Manila, Philippines – Global internet security firm Trend Micro reported that different malware (malicious software) activities in the Philippines alone reach an average of five billion threats. Around 30% of the total threats, or 1.5 billion, are actual reported attacks among internet users. Most of the threats are said to be from social networking sites in the guise of sensationalized scams.
Trend Micro also sees the lack of privacy in social networking sites makes information of internet users vulnerable. Cruz added that the 26 million Filipino Facebook users should be aware of clicking on status updates with sensational content. (Carlo Suerte Felipe)
