Manila, Philippines – With the world turning to goats rather than beef and pork, or even kangaroo and crocodile meat, there is no reason for the goat industry to lag behind.
Better still, poor rural folk should turn to raising goats as a means to get out of the rut, and perhaps rise in the social ladder faster than they could have ever imagined.
Dr. Nicomedes Eleazar, director of the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), says goat meat, or chevon, is actually preferred by the discriminating market since it is leaner and is profuse with zinc, which keeps the body warm in the uplands. (Marvyn N. Benaning)
