Manila, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested a South Korean fugitive wanted by authorities in Seoul, South Korea for blackmail and extortion.
Immigration Commissioner Ricardo A. David Jr. said yesterday that he ordered the arrest of Shin Un-sun, 37, upon the request of the South Korean Embassy in Manila.
David said Shin has been overstaying in the Philippines since he arrived in May 2007 and became an undocumented alien when his passport was cancelled last September 1 by the South Korean Embassy.
“He will be deported to Seoul where a central district court has issued a warrant for his arrest,“ the BI chief added. BI Intelligence chief Maria Antonette Bucasas Mangrobang added that Shin is wanted for hacking into the computer files of a communications firm that enabled him to download the personal data of more than 40,000 customers of the company.
