Manila, Philippines – Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reshuffled 55 tax fraud officials and investigators based in Metro Manila and nearby provinces yesterday to strengthen the drive against various forms of tax-dodging rackets and enhance voluntary compliance.
All of them came from the special investigation division (SID) of the revenue regional offices in Manila, Quezon City, Makati City, Caloocan City, San Fernando City, Pampanga, and San Pablo City, Laguna. Informed sources said the personnel change was a prelude to a bigger revamp program that the BIR management will carry out before the end of the year affecting mostly Revenue District Officers (RDO) and other field officials nationwide who are in the forefront of raising P940 billion this year.
Henares said the revamp of RDOs will be based on their collection performance, stressing that those who exceeded their assignments up to the end of November will be transferred to bigger districts. (Jun Ramirez)
