Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the Northeast monsoon is prevailing over Luzon as an Intertropical Convergence Zone is affecting Mindanao.
PAGASA has earlier explained in a previous briefing that the Northeast Monsoon is a weather system opposite the southwest monsoon that comprises cold winds coming from Saudi Arabia and which may induce rainfall.
With this prevailing weather systems in the country, PAGASA said in its weather forecast issued yesterday morning that Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
