Manila, Philippines – Government forces rescued Thursday night a Korean abandoned by his kidnappers due to his physical condition at the boundary of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte. PNP spokesman P/Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr. said the victim, Choi Inn So, was abandoned by his captors at the boundaries of Deguyanan, Madamba, Lanao del Sur and Salvador, Lanao del Norte around 9:35 p.m. on Thursday.
Soo was one of three Koreans forcibly taken by armed men on October 21 at Miami Inn Hotel on Varmenta Boulevard, Carmen, Cagayan De Oro. Capt. Arthur L. Eamiguel, of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (1ID), on the other hand, said Soo was rescued by a joint team of police and Army troops led by Col. Aldred L. Limoso, commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade (MIB).
Eamiguel said Soo was left behind by the suspects due to his physical condition and was sheltered by local residents in Barangay Calimodan, Salvador, Lanao del Norte, who also informed the local authorities and former Mayor Johnny Tawantawan. (Elena L. Aben)
