Manila, Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC) has stopped the Parañaque City government from implementing an ordinance that would increase real property taxes in the city.
In a resolution issued by its third division, the SC granted the plea for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) sought by Parañaque City residents who claimed the new ordinance would result in an excessive increase in land taxes.
Stopped temporarily by the SC was the implementation of Ordinance No. 11-11, Series of 2011 that prescribes the new schedules for the value of land,
building, and improvements in the city.
A copy of the petition filed by several subdivision homeowners in the city was not immediately available. (Rey G. Panaligan)
