Manila, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) reminded employers yesterday to give the 13th month pay to their workers before Christmas Day. Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz said private companies should pay their workers’ 13th month pay on or before December 24 as mandated by law.

She said companies that will not be able to comply will face sanctions from DoLE. “The 13th month pay is mandated by law. It is a core labor standard. DoLE will not compromise on its payment by the employers to their workers,” Baldoz said.

“To maintain compliance thereof, all employers are required to submit immediately their written compliance, with supporting documents, to the nearest DoLE Regional Office,” she added. (Samuel P. Medenilla)
