Manila, Philippines – Senate President Pro Tempore Jose “Jinggoy“ Estrada has filed a resolution asking the Senate to reopen the investigation into the P35-billion so-called Peace Eradication and Alleviation Certificates (PEACE) bonds controversy.
In filing Senate Resolution No. 638, Estrada sought to revive the alleged anomalous deal perceived to have benefitted cronies of the Arroyo administration.
Estrada’s resolution is directed to the Blue Ribbon Committee or the Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and the Ways and Means Committee urging both panels to probe the government’s borrowing process in relation to the issuance of PEACE bonds and determine the personalities involved in the deal to finally put closure on the case.
