In another wild finish, Barangay Ginebra came out with a thrilling win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 101-100, in the main game of the 2013 PBA Governors Cup held at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The final seconds of the match swayed left and right, something which started when Dior Lowhorn sank two free throws to tie the game at 98-all.
On the next offensive with about 27 seconds left, an aggressive and pesky Ginebra defense forced Rain or Shine to call another time out with about 11 seconds left.
Coming off the time out, import Arizona Reid was forced to make an attempt despite being well defended by counterpart Dior Lowhorn. Reid’s shot went in, leaving only 2 seconds on the clock and for Ginebra to make a final attempt.
On the next offensive, Baracael drew a foul from Beau Belga while making a three-point attempt, sending the former FEU stalwart to the line for three free throws. Baracael sank all three free throws to give Ginebra a 101-100 lead with 0.3 seconds left on the game clock.
RoS sued for time but were unable to get a decent attempt off the inbound which allowed Ginebra to escape with the win.
