HTC deserves an extra credit for picking out the right name for one of its wonderful creations. The HTC Desire 600 is truly desirable — six hundred times appealing. But we’re getting ahead of the review.
The HTC Desire 600 supports two active SIM cards simultaneously. That alone is an attractive offer to those who refuse to be burdened by too much devices while wishing to be fully connected to a widest circle of personal and business contacts, indoor or outdoor.
It must be stated right away that the HTC Desire 600 is so affordably priced you would think it’s an early Christmas gift to the masses from HTC.
As compared to other devices which make you pay for every included high-end feature, the HTC Desire 600 bundles, among others, Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad-core, 1.2GHz processor, and the latest HTC power features such as BlinkFeed, Sense 5 UI, BoomSound and Video Highlights.
It is a pretty sexy device, physically, with a 4.5-inch Super LCD2 qHD display panel surrounded by a Black bezel, a frame of brushed aluminium finish with red accents on the edges.
It plays music from two front speakers with the Volume rocker key located at the right hand side. The power/screen lock key sits at the top along with the 3.5mm headset jack. The Micro-USB port sits at the bottom.
The white-colored removable plastic back cover sports a glossy finish wit the 8-megapixel camera lens located at the upper half with the LED flash.
The two Micro-SIM card slots and the microSD card slot are located above the battery compartment, and all can be accessed without removing the battery. However, you’ll need to restart the phone if you insert a new SIM card.
Running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the HTC Desire 600 also comes with HTC”s own UI Sense 5. The Sense 5 UI is a home screen feed or BlinkFeed. Select topics and services for the BlinkFeed and it will push updates from them on the home screen. Select services such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, LinkedIn and Plurk, configure your account and receive updates on the BlinkFeed.
The HTC Desire 600 also includes a dedicated HTC ImageChip for quick processing of images and Smart Flash that offers a five-level flash that is automatically set based on the distance to the subject.
The HTC Desire 600 has 8GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB through microSD cards.
The phone offers dual-SIM functionality with support for one 3G (WCDMA) SIM and a GSM (non-3G SIM), and active standby so that you can on one SIM and still get another call on the other one where the calling party automatically gets a ‘call waiting’ indication.
