Manila, Philippines – Rookies Jeric Teng and Alex Nuyles signed a two-year contract with Rain or Shine yesterday, fulfilling their childhood dreams of playing in the PBA.
Both Nuyles and Teng, drafted 9th and 12th, respectively, by the team co-owned by Raymond Yu and Terry Que will receive P150,000 this season.
However, Atty. Mert Mondragon, ROS representative to the Board, refused to divulge the salaries two players will be receiving in the next season although he assured that both are happy.
“We can’t reveal the financial terms but both players are delighted,” said Mondragon.
As a rookie, a player can get a maximum of P150,000 in the first year, P225,000 in the second year and P420,000 in the third.
The team has yet to tackle the contract of No. 3 pick Raymond Almazan since the 6-foot-7 center still have a commitment with Letran which is currently playing in the Final Four of the NCAA.
“We don’t want to distract his attention because of school commitment, we wish him well,” said Yu. “We hope he will give Letran a championship before joining us.”
“Mas maganda ang dating niya sa amin kung champion siya, kaya we will support his bid to give Letran a championship,” added Que.
