Hog’s Breath Cafe scored 34 points in the fourth quarter to whip Wang’s Basketball, 109-93, yesterday in the PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Jansen Rios scored 11 of his 17 points in the final quarter to lead Hog’s.
“We made our outside shots and we were able to run, we have to be more focused cause this is a higher league than the NCAA and UAAP,” said Hog’s coach Caloy Garcia.
In the second game, Cagayan Valley rebounded from a tough loss at the hands of Hog’s Breath by crushing Boracay Rum, 84-54.
With their 82-78 loss to the Razorbacks still fresh on their minds, the Rising Suns came out of the gates firing on all cylinders to build a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Riding on the hot hands of Don Trollano and Prince Caperal, the Rising Suns continued to pummel the Waves to take a 49-21 lead at the half.
“Kailangan yung talo na yun kasi yung mga players ko pag nakakalamang ng malaki, may tendency magrelax,” Cagayan Valley Coach Alvin Pua said. (CJ)
