Games Today (Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City)
12 noon – Arellano-Air21 vs Jumbo Plastic
2 p.m. – Derulo Accelero vs Big Chill
4 p.m. – NU-BDO vs NLEX
Big Chill looks to keep its perfect record intact when it battles winless Derulo Accelero today, highlighting another busy day in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Superchargers are favored to register their fourth victory in as many games against the Oilers in the 2 p.m. game that sandwiched between the bids of Jumbo Plastic and defending champion NLEX to keep their winning form.
Jumbo Plastic battles Arellano-Air21 in the 12 noon curtain raiser while NLEX meets struggling National University-Banco de Oro at 4 p.m.
Coach Robert Sison’s Superchargers are coming off a narrow 81-78 win over Cebuana Lhuillier where former Jose Rizal University center Jeckster Apinan shattered a 77-all tie on a three-point play with 34.1 seconds left in the contest.
That is why Sison has asked his players – namely NCAA Rookie of the Year Juneric Baloria of Perpetual Help, Janus Lozada, Mar Villahermosa, Reil Cervantes and Rodney Brondial not to treat the Oilers as another stepping stone.
“There’s no time to relax at this point. This is a grueling tournament so we have to win as many games as we can,” said Sison.
Meanwhile, Jumbo Plastic is fresh from an 80-62 beating of Zambales M-Builders behind 16 points from Elliot Tan and Karl Dehesa.
The Stevenson Tiu-mentored Giants are tied for fourth place with Blackwater Sports at 3-1 thanks to the superb efforts of ex-pro Jason Ballesteros and former Adamson mainstay Jan Colina.
NLEX began its bid for a third straight Aspirants Cup crown last Monday when it blasted Arellano, 93-60.
