Games Monday Ynares Arena
2 p.m. – Cagayan Valley vs Jumbo Plastic
4 p.m. – Café France vs Zambales M-Builders
Cagayan Valley and Jumbo Plastic look to prop up their playoff campaign as the two teams clash in an interesting matchup on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.
The Rising Suns (6-2) and the Giants (5-1) are both in hot pursuit for a playoff spot with a strong chance to clinch and outright semi-final berth.
Jumbo Plastic has won its last three and assistant coach Joel Dualan believes the Giants can match up well against the Rising Suns in their scheduled 2 p.m. showdown at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
Café France (4-3) also seeks a crucial win against slumping Zambales M-Builders (2-5) in their 4 o’clock encounter to stay in the wild race for a spot in the Magic Six.
“(Cagayan) have a lot of good shooters. Their wingmen are dangerous when left open. But I think we can match up with them. If we have to win, it’s gotta be with our defense. They key is to limit Cagayan to below 70 points,” Dualan said.
The Giants is the league’s best defensive team with 64 points allowed per game.
But Jumbo Plastic coach Steve Tiu is worried the long break could disrupt the rhythm and momentum of his chargers, who are coming off a 10-day break.
Meanwhile, PBA commissioner Chito Salud has suspended NLEX center Ola Adeogun for one game in connection with his flagrant foul penalty 2 he committed during the Road Warriors’ 97-88 victory against the Big Chill Superchargers Monday last week.
