Manila, Philippines – Five days after he was fined a hefty amount of P100,000 for a verbal abuse against an opposing player, Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao has been penalized again by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.
Guiao was fined P30,000 penalty yesterday “for causing contact against an opposing player” in Talk ’N Text import Richard Howell in the series-opener of their semifinal showdown in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs last Monday.
In a statement, the PBA Commissioner’s Office simply announced the fine and the reason for penalizing Guiao after meeting Salud last Tuesday.
Howell also talked to Salud that same day but was not penalized despite Guiao’s claims that the Tropang Texters’ reinforcement called him a “bitch” after a heated verbal exchange late in Game 1.
TNT won that opener, 91-85.
It was only last Friday when Salud handed Guiao with a P100,000 penalty after calling Meralco forward Cliff Hodge ‘mongoloid’ following Game 2 of the quarterfinal series.
Guiao already apologized for using the word, but said his apology did not extend to Hodge. (Waylon Galvez)
