2 p.m. – Hog’s Breath Café vs Cagayan Valley
4 p.m. – Cebuana Lhuillier vs Blackwater Sports
Manila, Philippines – Coming off successive defeats, Cebuana Lhuillier seeks an all-important win against Blackwater Sports on Monday as the two teams wind up their elimination round schedules in the PBA DLeague Foundation Cup.
The Gems have played poorly the past two games losing to lightweight Hog’s Breath Café, 72-85, then to league leader and early semifinalist NLEX, 68-76 last Tuesday.
Cebuana Lhuillier (5-3) is currently locked in a three-team logjam at second place with Jumbo Plastic and Blackwater Sports but stand to clinch a coveted playoff spot with a victory.
Bambam Gamalinda, Paul Zamar, James Martinez, has been the Gems’ source of points for most part of their campaign and coach Boyzie Zamar is keeping his fingers crossed that the trio will regain their touch as Cebuana Lhuillier look to snap a two-game skid and clinch the second outright semifinal berth up for grabs.
Certainly, momentum will be on Blackwater Sports in the scheduled 4 p.m. encounter at the Meralco Gym in Ortigas Ave, Pasig City. The defending champs are coming off moral boosting wins against Boracay Rum (3-5) and Café France (3-5) and remain motivated to make it three in a row to stay in contention for the no.2 seed.
A third consecutive victory by Blackwater Sports will narrow the hunt for the second outright semifinal berth between the Elite and the Jumbo Plastic Giants, which close their elimination round assignment on against out of the running Café France on Tuesday.
