2 p.m. – Big Chill vs Cebuana Lhuillier
Manila, Philippines – Big Chill coach Robert Sison believes his troops will beat the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems in the rubber match of their quarterfinal showdown.
With their season at stake, the Superchargers defeated the twice-to-beat Cebuana Lhuillier Gems, 72-64, on Thursday to force a winner-take-all encounter for the last semifinal berth in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The “You or I” showdown is set at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Meralco Gym in Ortigas Ave., Pasig City.
“Many are asking me if we can win two in a row against Cebuana. I’m saying it now, we can do it,” declared Sison after the Superchargers held off repeated rallies by the Gems to keep their season alive.
Big Chill lost to Cebuana Lhuillier in the eliminations but the Superchargers played with a lot of confidence on Thursday and showed a lot of poise when the Gems appeared on the verge of talking over the game.
“Brian (Heruela) did a good job keeping the team together. His leadership was the key for us in this game. I though he also stepped up offensively in the closing seconds when the game was on the line,” Sison said of his rugged guard.
Big Chill is expecting another stellar performance from Heruela in its bid to join top-seed NLEX, Jumbo Plastic and Blackwater Sports in the next round. He is expected to draw support from Janus Lozada, Jeckster Apinan, Dexter Maiquez nd Mar Villahermosa.
All is not lost for the Gems but they need to regroup and display some sense urgency, something that lacks their game on Thursday.
“Cebuana generates their offense from their off screen picks. So we really have to study their plays. I’m sure they’ll be ready for us so we have to really be prepared,” Sison said.
