Manila, Philippines – Globalport is not looking elsewhere for the replacement of Coach Pido Jarencio.
A Globalport source indicated yesterday that next person who will call the shots for the Batang Pier will come from its coaching staff.
Though the management has already appointed Eric Gonzales as the team’s co-coach, Globalport has a number of assistant coaches capable of taking Jarencio’s job – among them John Cardel, Mac Cuan and Oliver Bunyi.
But if Gonzales passes the test he will be formally named as head coach of the team.
The same source also clarified that Jarencio will remain with the team but in different capacity.
“He will be our consultant and will co-coach with Eric in our last two elimination games,” he added.
The contract of Jarencio, which he signed when he joined the team last season before the Commissioner’s Cup, is until the end of the 40th Season.
“At the end of the conference, everybody will be evaluated,” the source added.
