Manila, Philippines – PBA’s four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Alvin Patrimonio is still hurting emotionally after what happened to Samboy Lim last Friday but he’s hoping for a miracle that things will be alright.
“All we can do is to continue praying,” said Patrimonio, now a team manager of Purefoods Star, prior to the Hotshots’ game versus Rain or Shine yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Patrimonio was with Lim when the former San Miguel star was rushed to The Medical City after collapsing while playing for the PBA Legends in an exhibition encounter at the Ynares Center in Pasig City.
The 52-year-old Lim is still in a coma at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – just a few hours before the critical 48-hour deadline set since the incident happened last Friday night.
What puzzles Patrimonio is the fact that Lim is known to be leading a healthy lifestyle.
“Siguro yun yung masakit para sa akin, kasi kilala natin ni Samboy na sobrang fit, walang bisyo, kita mo naman kung gaano ka-condition yung katawan nya. Sobrang nakaka-gulat lang na nangyari yun sa kanya,” said Patrimonio.
“Until now hindi pa din ako makapaniwala. Sana magising sya (from his coma), sa pagkakaalam ko ok naman yung heart nya, yung kidney nya… sana lang talaga kaya let’s continue praying for him,” added Patrimonio.
Lim’s younger brother, Bon-Bon Lim, said that what’s happening now is like a waiting game.
“Nag-aantay lang din kami, parang waiting game, na sana ma-survive ng brother ko to, na sana maging ok sya,” said Bon-Bon Lim, who like his brother, played for the Letran Knights.
“Ang sabi nga kung oras mo na, oras mo na. But heaven can wait, alam naming na marami pa syang magagawa dito. That’s why we’re praying, sana mapakinggan kami sa dasal na maka-recover ang brother ko,” added Bob-Bon Lim.
