San Miguel Beer center June Mar Fajardo’s availability in Sunday’s PBA All-Star Game will depend on the result of the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) test the reigning MVP had yesterday.
The 6-foot-10 Fajardo sprained his left ankle late in the first period of SMB’s encounter against Barako Bull in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup last Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The superstar center did not return but the Beermen went on to win the crucial game, 102-91, that kept the team in playoff contention with a 2-6 record – tied with expansion team Blackwater at the bottom of the standings.
Fajardo, also the Best Player of the Conference (BPC) in the last Philippine Cup, sprained his ankle when he accidentally landed on the foot of Barako Bull’s 7-foot-2 import Sol Alabi.
Fajardo fell on the floor and grimaced in pain as he held on his left ankle. It took Fajardo about three minutes before he finally got up and was assisted by teammates on his way back to the bench. (Waylon Galvez)
