Tanduay Light finally ended its four-game losing streak at the expense of ATC Livermarin, 92-76, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup, yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Ajon Mariano finished with 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Tanduay but it was the stellar play of Joseph Eriobu which ultimately ended the Rhum Masters’ slide.
The former Mapua star scored eight of his 15 points in the final quarter to keep the Guardians at bay and give Tanduay its second victory in six games.
The Rhum Masters started the fourth quarter with seven unanswered points to build a commanding 76-62 lead with 8:24 left.
Then Eriobu took over, scoring eight straight points in the final 2:24, responding to everything that the Guardians threw at them.
“It’s a minor win, but we’ll take it,” said Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson who remains hopeful despite sitting at eighth place in the standings. (Christian Jacinto)
