Talk ’N Text coach Jong Uichico said that the team has not made any decision pertaining to the No. 1 overall selection in the PBA Rookie Draft this Sunday at the Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila.
Uichico said the Tropang Texters are still torn between Fil-Tongan Moala Tautuaa and local amateur stalwart Troy Rosario for the top pick, which TNT acquired in a trade last season with Blackwater.
“We haven’t made any decision,” said Uichico yesterday.
“Of course, we’re looking at Rosario and Tautuaa. But to say that we’re picking Tautuaa, these are only speculations. Until that day comes, we won’t know talaga,” added Uichico.
Talk ’N Text is also eyeing the No. 2 overall pick from the Mahindra Enforcers (formerly Kia Sorento), but so far, the team of Coach Manny Pacquaio has not made a decision whether or not to keep the pick.
TNT started its preparation for the coming 41st PBA Season last July 15, to allow players chosen to Gilas Pilipinas to join the practice sessions. Currently part of the national team training pool are Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
Kelly Williams was also with the national team but he hurt his right knee when training session started last Aug. 3, forcing him to quit Gilas Pilipinas duties that is preparing for the FIBA Asia Championship in Changsha, China scheduled Sept. 23 to Oct. 3.
Team doctors, however, expressed optimism that Williams – the league MVP in 2008 – will be ready to play when 2015–16 PBA Philippine Cup action returns in midway of October this year.
