Traffic flow along EDSA northbound was disrupted after a passenger bus caught fire in Makati City yesterday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported.
Emma Loristo, MMDA’s Metrobase, said a Nova bus with plate number TWS 207 was seen in flames via closed circuit television (CCTV) at around 9:06 am near Ayala Avenue.
No one was reported injured in the incident as the bus driver, conductor and passengers managed to get off the bus before the fire spread.
She said members of the Bureau of Fire-Makati responded at the scene and put off the fire before 10 a.m. The fire, which started at the back portion of the bus, resulted in heavy traffic along Edsa that stretched up to Roxas Boulevard.
Less than an hour earlier at 8:19 a.m., a car flipped over after hitting a concrete barrier also at the northbound lane of Edsa, in front of SM Megamall. Loristo said the passengers of the car with plate number AKA 7053, were rushed to the Medical City. The accident also slowed down traffic on EDSA.
