Jumbo Plastic Linoneum streaked to its third win by blasting Supremo Lex, 91-69, while Cagayan Valley picked up its second consecutive victory in the PCBL Founders Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
Ex-pro James Martinez sizzled for 15 points as the Linoleum Giants improved to 3-1 – thanks to a big third quarter performance that saw them take a 67-49 advantage going into the final quarter.
Supremo Lex was paced by former PBA player JP Belencion’s 14 markers.
Led by CJ Isit, the Rising Suns outscored Euro-Med, 19-5, in a five-minute stretch of the third period on the way to scoring an 89-78 victory over Euro Med.
Isit scattered for 25 points, and good thing for the Rising Suns, their defense on Euro-Med’s Bong Gallanza also clicked.
The sweet-shooting Gallanza scored 11 points in the first half, but was held scoreless by the relentless defense of Cagayan.
“Siya talaga ang marked man sa amin so our game plan was to stop him. He did score a lot in the first half but we paid a conscious effort on stopping him sa second half,” said Cagayan Coach Ronnie Dojillo.
