A 25-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her 27-year-old common-law husband during a heated argument yesterday in Binondo, Manila, police said. Police identified the victim as Annabelle Murin of Happy Land, Road 10, Tondo, Manila.
Initial investigation disclosed that Reggie Torio, a barangay tanod of Barangay 270, Zone 25, Binondo, was patrolling M. de Santos corner Asuncion Sts. when he noticed Murin and the suspect, Luis Santos, a tricycle driver, having an argument around 12:30 a.m.
At the height of their argument, Torio said Santos stabbed Murin using a pair of scissors. Torio immediately arrested the suspect while Murin was taken to the Justice Jose Abad Stantos Hospital where he died at around 2:19 a.m. “I did not even know that I stabbed her.
All that I could remember was that she pushed her body near me,” the suspect told police. Santos claimed that the victim was always jealous and would often pick a fight with him The other day, he said, the victim came to him at the wrong time.
“I was so tired and sleepy because I had been driving the pedicab for the whole night and she came to me and said a mouthful yet again,” the suspect said, adding that he wanted to avoid the confrontation but the victim kept on coming near him and even punched him several times.
