With Christmas just around the corner, the government is ready to ensure public safety and ease traffic congestion on the roads during the festive season.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Philippine National Police and other government agencies have been alerted to address the public concerns, including the heavy traffic often associated with the Christmas rush.
“Christmas is really a time of celebration, a time of bustling commercial activity. Our government agencies are aware of the concerns, including traffic that is being addressed by the government,” Lacierda said over government radio.
He noted that the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group has been deployed to supervise the traffic situation on EDSA. The cops were first deployed last September amid public uproar over the worsening traffic along the country’s busiest highway. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
