Former Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) Minister Lowell Menorca II is set to face the leaders of the influential religious group this week when the Court of Appeals (CA) starts hearing on the petitions for habeas corpus and amparo originally filed with the Supreme Court (SC) on the former’s behalf.
Lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles said that Menorca will formally recount his harrowing ordeal allegedly at the hands of the INC, starting from his supposed abduction last July 26 in Sorsogon until his rescue last Oct. 23.
Angeles said they will also present several witnesses before the appellate court, that will corroborate her client’s kidnapping claim, including Abigail Yanson, who is the nanny of Menorca’s children.
“Ire-recount niya in detail yung circumstances simula nung pagkidnap sa kanya hanggang sa pag rescue sa kanya. Magpepresent din tayo ng mga witnesses na mag-cocorroborate sa kwento niya,” Angeles said.
Facing the media last week, Menorca bared the alleged plans of the INC to have him killed, and as well as recounted the supposed physical and emotional torture he suffered inside the INC compound since his alleged abduction. (Leonard Postrado)
