TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Animal bite incidents continued to increase in the area with the 5.198 cases with four rabies deaths recorded this year.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) assured that there was no rabies outbreak in any cities and municipalities with the reported number.
The PHO made the assurance even as it has been preoccupied with the anti-dengue drive in the area. The local government earlier declared a province-wide outbreak due to dengue-carrying mosquito bite prevalence.
Latest PHO report revealed that there were 35 dengue deaths of the 8,241 cases recorded in the area from January to October this year. The 5,198 animal bite cases were recorded in the first three quarters of the year alone, an official report from the PHO-Technical showed.
The Office has been rendering its reports every quarter of the year. There were two rabies deaths in Kawit municipality and one each in Indang town and Trece Martires City or a total of four during the year.
The fatalities were 47-year-old male and female, a 56-year-old male and a 15-year-old female. (Anthony Giron)
