A 36-year-old dismissed policeman was allegedly killed by two men in front of a bakery in Quiapo, Manila yesterday, police said.
Police identified the victim as PO3 Saripoden Malawi Pangcoga, who was assigned to Lanao del Sur until he was dismissed on March 12, 2014.
Bystanders told police that they saw the victim bleeding on the ground at about 12:30 a.m. beside Bakerite Bakery on Hidalgo corner CP Garcia Sts. and died moments later.
The victim had two bullet wounds in the back of the head and another in the right side of his face. Closed circuit television camera footage in the area showed two unidentified men approaching the victim followed by bystanders scampering away.
SPO3 Glenzor Vallejo said the CCTV footage did not directly show the suspects firing at the victim because of a truck in front of the bakery. However, Vallejo said, it was good enough as a lead to work on.
The victim’s cadaver was sent to St. Rich Funeral Parlor on Bonifacio Ave. in Quezon City for autopsy.
