Jumbo Plastic continued its winning run in the PCBL Founders Cup and became the first team to reach the century mark in the young history of the league in its 102-89 triumph over Cagayan at the JCSGO Gym on Tuesday night.
Ex-PBA player James Martinez came away with 22 points on a steady 8-of-11 shooting from the field while working alongside backcourt partner Jeff Viernes who added 21 as they totally outplayed their counterpart guards in leading their team to their fourth straight win.
The win enabled Jumbo Plastic to improve its record to 4-1, but the reason for the upsurge, according to head coach Stevenson Tiu was the players’ ability to adapt to the system and establish chemistry.
It was the third loss in five matches for the Rising Suns in this tournament supported by Spalding, Ambucore, Accel and Aquabest.
Overshadowing Jumbo’s fourth straight win was Supremo Lex’s stunning 80-79 upset victory over Euro-Med in the second game as the Builders finally entered the win column after five games.
