SAN FERNANDO, Cebu – Authorities swooped into the houses of alleged big-time drug pushers in this town Tuesday afternoon, seizing almost P4 million worth of shabu but the targets of the raids eluded arrest.
The operation, carried out by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and San Fernando Police, resulted in the recovery of the drugs and several firearms but failed to arrest the subjects of the operation – Ruel Garces and Leonardo Gesnan.
The operation was a follow-up to the arrest of a 21-year-old drug courier who was nabbed with a kilo of shabu last Saturday. Garces and Gesnan allegedly supplied the illegal drugs to the apprehended courier.
Aside from recovering P4 million worth of shabu, the operatives also seized one shotgun, three live ammunition, and two .22-caliber revolvers.
They also recovered three stolen motorcycles. Sources said Garces and Gesnan are protected in their respective areas because they are very generous to their neighbors. The operatives said neighbors of the suspects were tightlipped when they were asked about the whereabouts of the two. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
