The PBA Board of Governors will convene today to discuss the plans of current league President and CEO Angelico “Chito” Salud to step from the position at end of the year.
Board chairman Robert Non of San Miguel Beer said yesterday that this would be the main topic of the group in a special meeting at the PBA Commissioner’s Office in Libis, Quezon City.
“We’ll discuss that, if we’ll accept his resignation,” said Non yesterday when contacted by the Bulletin.
“Everything is up to the board, so we’ll see tomorrow what will happen.”
The meeting is set at 12 noon, and Salud is expected to attend the meeting.
Asked what would be the next step for the board if and when Salud stands firm of his decision to step down, Non said the board will take action as one in deciding on what to do in the interest of the PBA.
However, the SMB official hinted for the position to be vacant for until such time that the board finds the right man for the job.
“Everything is up to the board, kung ano ang mapag-usapan. Besides, we still have to talk to President/CEO Salud. Hindi pa naman namin tinatanggap yung decision nya e,” said Non.
Salud announced his plans to step down last Tuesday in a statement.
“I have formally and respectfully signified my intention to step down as President/CEO of the PBA effective at the end of Dec 2015. The organizational structure of PBA as we have envisaged is already in place,” said Salud.
