Amid the holiday revelry, Top Rank continues to work on the proposed April 9 comeback fight of Manny Pacquiao, the promotional company’s president told the Bulletin yesterday.
“We are working on some stuff,” relayed Todd Duboef, the step son of Top Rank chairman Bob Arum.
While admitting that they’re waiting Pacquiao’s decision about his choice for an opponent, Duboef maintains that Arum is aware of what’s happening and Top Rank will immediately buckle down to work “after the holidays.”
Duboef’s stepfather Arum is also on vacation but already has everything in order in time for the resumption of work.
Arum has given Pacquiao a few names to choose from but another fighter has been put into the mix: Adrien Broner.
The problem with Broner is that he is aligned with another promotional group and reaching a deal with him will require some extra work.
Tim Bradley and Terence Crawford are both under Arum’s banner and getting a deal done with one of them will come in handy.
Broner has confirmed that Pacquiao’s adviser Mike Koncz has phoned him asking if he is amenable to face Pacquiao next year. (Nick Giongco)
