Games today (Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig)
2 p.m. – Mindanao Aguilas vs CafeFrance
4 p.m. Phoenix Petroleum vs Wangs Basketball
Foundation Cup champion CafeFrance makes its tournament debut when they meet the Mindanao Aguilas in today’s PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup action at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
While Bakers coach Egay Macaraya lost brilliant combo guard Maverick Ahanmisi to the pros, the former PBA player will still be having the core of Centro Escolar University at his disposal.
“The nice thing is that we know how to play with each other. We’re familiar with each other, we’ll just give it our best every game and hopefully we can duplicate our run last conference,” said Macaraya.
The Aguilas will be a team composed mainly of players from the Mindanao region. Their top draft pick, Mikey Williams, won’t be suiting up today as they’re still finalizing his eligibility papers
Meantime another tournament favorite and newcomer Phoenix Petroleum will see action against Wang’s Basketball.
The Accelerators will be parading a line-up composed mainly of the reigning UAAP champions FEU Tamaraws.
Apart from the likes of Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo, Roger Pogoy and Raymar Jose,Phoenix will also tap the services of prolific UST scorer Ed Daquioag as they take on the returning Wangs squad which will be led by ex-NCAA stars in Francis Musayac, Jonathan Banal and Rey Publico.
