Three persons were arrested for allegedly buying more than $700,000 from a businessman using a fake check Saturday in Makati City.
Kinilala ni Senior Supt. Ernesto Barlam, Makati police chief, ang mga suspects na sina Arthur Pimentel, 48, businessman; Rolando Manacap, 39, a buy and sell agent; and Dave Marcos, 35, all residents of Quezon City.
Nahuli ng Makati police ang mga suspects at around 4 p.m. at Pearl Bank Center after buying $760,000 or around P33 million kay Rolando Medestomas, 55, businessman, of Paraiso St., Barangay Pembo, Makati.
Police said that the suspects paid Medestomas with a check but when the victim encashed it, napagalamang ito raw ay peke.
Medestomas said that he had given P500,000 to the suspects as initial payment after receiving the check.
This prompted Medestomas to report the incident to Makati City Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch-Theft and Robbery Section, leading to the arrest of the suspects. (Martin A. Sadongdong)
