The 17-year-old son of a licensed vocational nurse from the Philippines has gained recognition in the United States for being one of only 12 in the entire world to get a perfect score in his Advanced Placement Calculus exam.
Ayon sa Los Angeles Unified School District, of the 302,532 students na kumuha ng Advanced Placement Calculus AB exam last May, only Cedrick Argueta, a senior at the Abraham Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, and 11 others earned a perfect score.
Ang AP Calculus AB ay isang Advanced Placement calculus course taken by high school students in the US. The course is traditionally taken after precalculus and is the first calculus course offered at most schools except for the regular calculus class.
The Pre-Advanced Placement pathway for math will help prepare students for further Advanced Placement classes and exams.
The material includes the study and application of differentiation and integration, and graphical analysis including limits, asymptotes, and continuity. An AP Calculus AB course is typically equivalent to one semester of college calculus.
Aside from his achievement in AP calculus, nakakuha din si Argueta ng perfect scores on the English and math sections of the ACT college-entrance exam. (Roy C. Mabasa)
