Embattled Alaska Aces head coach Alex Compton is trying to forget their painful series loss to San Miguel Beer the best possible way for a man of his stature.
Known for his amiable ways, Compton has opted to spend the next few days exclusively with his family somewhere in Batangas.
In fact, Compton has politely turned down requests for interviews though he has opened his line almost the entire day yesterday.
“I promised my wife to step away while on vacation. I understand the business and no one’s out of line. I just need a break because this one’s for the record books again for the wrong reasons,” said Compton.
The 41-year-old Compton and his Alaska Aces where on the receiving end of the historic Game 7 victory of the San Miguel Beermen last Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Beermen completed what was considered then as an improbable feat by coming back from a 0-3 deficit en route to a historic PBA Philippine Cup title conquest by winning the last four games of their Best-of-Seven championship battle.
It was the Beermen’s 22nd PBA crown that extended their record as the league’s winningest franchise.
