Games Today (The Arena, San Juan)
2 p.m. – Phoenix vs UP – QRS
4 p.m. – AMA vs NU-BDO
Phoenix Petroleum tries to keep its perpetual record and keep in step with the early leaders in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup as it takes on UP – QRS/Jam in another heavyweight match-up today at The Arena in San Juan.
Backed by the UAAP champion team Far Eastern University, the Accelerators will be gunning for their third victory in as many games to join powerhouse CafeFrance and Caida at the pinnacle of the standings.
The Accelerators have flattened two marquee teams thus far, with AMA University their latest victim as they stormed back from a 22 point deficit to steal a 114-102 victory.
Though they’ve been off to a hot start, head coach Eric Gonzales believes his team still has a long way to go.
“Marami pang malalakas diyan. We haven’t been tested yet,” said Gonzales after their victory over the Titans,” said Gonzales “Yung UP mahirap kalaban kasi they’re a mix of veterans and school based players, it’s gonna be tough.”
While the Accelerators will be coming in unscathed, the Maroons look to bounce back after being slaughtered by the Bakers last week, 94-73.
The Maroons hope to see guys like Kevin Ferrer, Juneric Baloria and Paul Desiderio to find their groove early as they go heads-on against the likes of Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo and Ed Daquioag.
In the second game, it’s the battle of the two winless school-based teams as AMA University takes on National University- BDO.
