KAPAMILYA star Jodi Sta. Maria said that she and former husband Panfilo Lacson, Jr. are friends now.
“Maayos po ang aming relasyon. Kahit papaano, we are better now than before and palagay ko pareho na rin kaming nag-mature. Naniniwala ako na ‘yung pagiging maayos ng aming relasyon is grace na rin po talaga ni Lord,” said Sta Maria, during an interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda”aired over ABS-CBN.
“It’s not something na ipinilit namin pero si Lord po mismo ang nag-restore ng relationship namin. Nakakatuwa lang how God made it beautiful in His time,” said Sta. Maria, who played Amor Powers in the hit prime time show “Pangako sa ‘Yo.”
Sta. Maria also said that her son Thirdy had accepted that his parents have separated.
“When Pampi and I separated, that was five years ago, na explain na po namin ‘yan kay Thirdy, separately. We know na hindi naging madali rin but we explained to him that it was not his fault na naghiwalay kami and that our love for him will never change. We have to assure him of our love,” said Sta. Maria.
After “Pangako,” Sta. Maria said that she will tour the Holy Land with his pastor and some friends for that much-needed break next month.
In April, the actress said that she and her son will go on a safari trip to South Africa.
“Thirdy loves animals, time to make up for lost time and I know that he loves animals so much. ‘Yung mga napapanood n’ya sa National Geographic Channel, eto live na!” she said.
The actress also said that she is satisfied with her life these days. “My heart is fulfilled and I am contented with what I have right now.”
Sta. Maria, 33, also admitted that playing the role of Amor Powers was one of her most-challenging roles ever.
“Mahirap gawin si Amor Powers. Isa po s’ya sa challenging roles ko. To keep me sane, I just always remind myself that it’s just a role, this not a reality,”she added.
The actress said that she will surely miss doing the teleserye and the friendship she shared with the cast and production crew.
“Before nagsimula ang show, at sa dami ng teleserye na nagawa ko, it is expected na lahat ng bagay na nagsisimula ay magtatapos. Kailangan mo lang i-prepare ‘yung sarili mo for that. You just enjoy the journey and the relationship na nagkaroon ka while doing the material,” Sta. Maria said.
Asked about her memorable moments as Mrs. Powers, she said: “Amor is determined, she never stopped but beyond the hard shell is a person with a soft heart.”
“One of the most important lessons learned as Amor Powers is magpatawad s’ya. Mahirap mabuhay ng punong-puno ka ng galit. The only way you can see yourself from that is to release the person that hurt you or offended you and ‘yun ang ginawa ni Amor,” Sta. Maria said.
Prior to “Pangako,” she also played the role of Maya dela Rosa-Lim in the hit Kapamilya morning serye “Be Careful with My Heart” opposite Richard Yap from 2012-2014.
