4 p.m. – Caida vs CafeFrance
It’s the clash between two of the top three teams in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup as CafeFrance takes on Caida in the main game of the double-header today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Prior to the season, clubs have already looked at these two teams to be two of the favorites and for good reason, the players of both squads have been together for a longtime.
Take the Bakers for example. The league has seen the massive improvement from their end as they turned from being just a regular team to champions of last conference in just a few years.
That type of familiarity still drives this team this conference as they have started out on fire, blowing out teams left and right behind the Centro Escolar University-based players and the added help of D-League veterans.
That’s the same formula that coach Caloy Garcia wants to emulate for his squad.
“If you would look at CafeFrance, they’ve been together for a long time. They’re very familiar with each other, that’s why they’re a very tough team to play against,” said Garcia.
The Tile Masters have also been around for quite some time with Garcia forming this team last year as the Keramix Mixers. They went on to play in the finals of the PCBL, a success that they hope to carry this conference.
“We’re going to be really tested by Caida. They’re one of the strongest teams in the league and this is where we can really see where we stand right now,” said CafeFrance coach Egay Macaraya.
