LOVE can wait for Kapamilya star Anne Curtis-Smith as she gets busy with several “firsts” in her 19-year showbiz career during Heart’s Month.
Asked if she’s already engaged to boyfriend Erwan Heussaff, Curtis said: “No. Not yet. But I think that will come sooner.”
“Napag-uusapan naman ‘yan and we have been together for so long, five years officially. For me, if it’s gonna be us, it’s gonna be us. Just because everyone else is getting engaged kailangan kami din. I think everyone will happen in its own time… in its own beautiful time. Each and everyone of us is perfectly unique,” said Curtis, during an interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda” aired over ABS-CBN.
‘I love OPM’
Curtis said that she was very excited to host a singing competition for the first time in her career in “I Love OPM” which will begin on Feb. 13. On Saturdays, “I Love OPM” will air right after “MMK” while on Sundays, after “Rated K” on ABS-CBN.
“’I Love OPM’ is an original concept and it came as a surprise when it was offered to me. Sabi ko, ‘Are you sure pwede ako dyan?’ Meron tayo ditong mga 100 percent na hindi Pinoy na kakanta ng Tagalog songs. Then I saw the connection. Perfect ako d’yan,” she said.
Co-hosting with Curtis is Erick Nicholas. The judges who will serve as “Himig-ration” officers to “tourist stars” are Lani Misalucha, Martin Nievera, and Toni Gonzaga-Soriano.
“Maa-amaze ka with the people we’ve already met. Ang huhusay mag-Tagalog mas magaling pa ‘yung iba mag-Tagalog kesa sa akin. Nakikipag-usap pa sila ng Tagalog. Kaya makikita mo ‘yung reaction ko dun, sobrang surprise, may nagbi-Bisaya pa. Ang galing nila, nakaka aaliw,” said Curtis about the foreigner contestants of the show.
The Filipino-Australian actress also said that she was surprised when Misalucha told Abunda that she could sing.
“Actually I got lots of feeds at sabi nga raw ni Ms. Lani Misalucha ‘yun and I am so surprised. Kasi pag nagte-taping kami kumakanta ako kahit na
break kami, super sing kami. I think alam n’ya na kahit paano nag-improvena ‘yung voice ko,” she added.
Anne as author
Curtis will also launch her first children’s book ever entitled “Anita the Duckling Diva” on Feb. 19, two days after her birthday. She turns 31 on Feb. 17.
“It’s a character I made up for my very first children’s book for the benefit of Unicef Philippines. It’s my ultimate dream and then eto na s’ya,” she said. “I attended a writing workshop and after five drafts, we have Anita ‘The Duckling Diva.’ “
The multi-awarded star said that she chose the topic of shyness for her first book. “This is fiction with children’s book, you have to choose a topic to tackle at may mensahe kang ipapaliwanag.”
“The reason why I tackled shyness it’s because I’ve known many kids na nahihiya. As a kid, shy rin ako, so I made a research on how to tackle shyness and how to overcome it,” Curtis said.
Music video
For the first time, Curtis will appear in a music video for the song “Empire of Pink” lifted from her new CD called “Forever Young.”
“Gift ko sa sarili ko ‘yung new CD. It will be launched on Feb 20,” she said.
Curtis added: “Yung ‘Empire of Pink’ lalabas sa ‘It’s Showtime’ sa isang production number. It’s my first music video at ipinaglaban ko talaga ang music video na ito,” Curtis added.
The “Forever Young” CD is her third studio album. In 2011, Curtis debuted her “Annebisyosa” album that went platinum. She released her second CD entitled “The Forbidden Album.”
The actress also thanked the supporters of the noontime show “It’s Showtime” which is getting good ratings lately.
“We are just so thankful. Everyday, we come in and we go feeling happy and enthusiastic about everything. There was a rough patch but you know, it’s really what comes with the industry. It’s something that you have to go through. Once you surpass it, you become stronger in the industry. The bond was there and it’s teamwork,” Curtis said.
