2 p.m. Phoenix-FEU vs BDO-NU
4 p.m. Tanduay vs CafeFrance
CafeFrance shoots to further cement itself at the top spot of the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup when it goes up against Tanduay Monday at San Juan Arena.
The Bakers have swept their first five games, with their latest victim being Wangs Basketball in a 106-73 beatdown last Tuesday. They will look to extend that winning streak to six at the expense of the Rhum Masters.
Still, coach Egay Macaraya isn’t ready to brand his team as the title favorites at this stage of the tourney,
“Masyadong malakas din na team ang Tanduay. Unpredictable sila kasi anytime, they can have a good game,” he said.
What Macaraya, though, is focusing on is CafeFrance’s commitment to stay the course, with Rod Ebondo and veterans Mar Villahermosa, Paul Zamar, and Carl Bryan Cruz leading the fort.
“The only key here is to keep doing the same thing which made us successful: execute on the team defense and make stops,” he said.
Winners of three straight games, Tanduay, though, is on a roll of its own.
Coach Lawrence Chongson is just elated to see the Rhum Masters’ hardwork finally paying off as his team improved to 3-2 after a 92-83 victory over AMA last Tuesday.
Tanduay banked on the leadership of Rudy Lingganay, Pari Llagas, and Von Pessumal during that stretch.
