Vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo admitted yesterday that it is Senator Bongbong Marcos who is the man to beat in the race for the second highest post in the land.
“His (survey numbers) are very steady in going up, not like of Chiz (Senator Francis Escudero) who started high because he’s very popular but are now going down,” Robredo told reporters in an interview after the celebration of the International Women’s Day at the Makati City Coliseum.
“Marcos is already a formidable opponent,” she added.
Recent survey results showed that Marcos is now statistically tied with Escudero on the highest spot with Robredo ending up consistently in second and third place.
Robredo attributed the sudden increase in the ratings of Marcos to his resources, which she also admitted to be hard to match.
“He has many resources, not only in air (broadcast media) but also on the ground. It’s really difficult to match his resources,” said Robredo.
The sudden and consistent increase in the survey ratings of Marcos has bothered even President Aquino who publicly criticized him especially on the aspect of historical revisionism in the social media which targets the so-called millenials who did not experience the Martial Law period.
But Robredo said she is not losing hope as she maintained that the race for the vice president is not only about money.
