The Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League has formally accepted SCTEX, a team under the MVP Group of Companies, as its seventh member in the ongoing Chairman’s Cup.
SCTEX earned the right to represent the MVP Group of Companies after winning the MVP Olympics.
“This is the incentive we got for winning the MVP Olympics. The higher management trusted our team to represent MVP Group in the PCBL and it’s really an honor for us,” said team manager Ronald Dulatre. “Our modest goal is to reach the playoffs and see what happens from there.”
Dulatre is also the team manager of the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA and he is tapping Adonis Tierra, assistant coach of Boyet Fernandez with the Road Warriors in the pro league, to handle the PCBL squad.
The Manila North Tollways Corporation-owned franchise will be beefed up by ex-pros Ervin Sotto, and Ford Arao and former San Beda guard Borgie Hermida.
This developed as the Chairman’s Cup goes to Marikina Sports Center with a double header as Foton Toplander and Supremo Lex make their debut in the 5 p.m. encounter.
Founders Cup champion Jumbo Plastic and Euro-Med, which both lost their opening matches, collide in the main game at 7 p.m.
