Manila, Philippines – The Liberal Party is confident that the survey ratings of standard-bearer Manuel A. Roxas II and running mate Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo will get a big boost once the campaign for local candidates starts on March 25.
LP spokesman for campaign Rep. Barry Gutierrez said the solid support system for the administration candidates on the grassroots will improve their ratings.
“We have so many allies at the local level who have overwhelming support for us,” said Gutierrez.
“Definitely once the local campaign starts, we expect that our campaign at the grassroots will further intensify. It’s like we are now on the second gear and once the local campaign starts, it will shift to the third and fourth gears,” he added.
Roxas and Robredo have been successfully striking alliances with a lot of local officials, which include non-allies.
Former and incumbent local officials who are identified with former President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria M. Arroyo such as Eduardo Ermita in Batangas and Gov. Lilia Pineda of Pampanga have declared support for Roxas. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
