After 25 years, actress-comedianne Candy Pangilinan finally received her first acting award at the 2016 CineFilipino Film Festival awards night held in Cubao, Quezon City last March 19.
“Ang tagal ko na hong artista, ngayon lang ho ako nagka-award. Thank you ho. Marami hong salamat. Sa pamilya ko ho, sa anak ko ho, marami pong salamat. Pangilinan, 43, played a single mom who raised her child with Down Syndrome for the film “Star Na Si Van Damme Stallone.”
It was in 1991 when Pangilinan was introduced in a supporting role for the blockbuster horror-flick “Shake, Rattle and Roll III.” She then went to appear in other movies and teleseryes.
Pangilinan tied with Angeli Bayani for the best actress honors. Bayani stars in the lesbian-themed movie “Ned’s Project.”
“Ned’s Project,” a story of a lesbian tattoo artist who wants to bear a child, was named Best Picture.
