GMA Network presents a special Lenten programming schedule on Maundy Thursday (March 24), Good Friday (March 25) and Black Saturday (March 26).
Maundy Thursday opens with “Sa Mata Ng Simbahan” at 7:00 a.m. to be followed by animated films for kids featuring“Doraemon Movie: Nobita’s Dinosaur” at 7:45am and “Detective Conan Movie: The Time Bomb” at 9:00 a.m.
GMA News and Public Affairs will offer two locally-made animated series “Alamat” at 10 a.m. with “Ang Langgam at Ang Tipaklong” and “Juan Tamad” that aim to teach young viewers the value of saving money.
At 11:00 a.m., an entertaining line-up of films unreels beginning with “Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar” ; followed by three local blockbuster movies, “Mulawin the Movie”, “Crying Ladies”, and “Inang Yaya” at 12:00nn, 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. respectively.
At 5:30 p.m., witness the CBN Asia’s special “Tanikala: Sa Isang Iglap” which stars Glaiza de Castro and Krystal Reyes to be followed by the 2014 American epic biblical drama film “Son of God” at 7:00 p.m.
The critically-acclaimed Korean drama film “Miracle in Cell No. 7” will be the last feature at 10:00 p.m., which tells a touching story of a mentally-challenged man struggling in a correctional facility, and his daughter who then grows up to be a lawyer and attempts to win his case.
On Good Friday, kids will enjoy another series of animated films beginning with “Doraemon Movie: Nobita’s Dorabian Nights” at 7 a.m.; followed by “Pokemon Movie Black: Victini & Reshiram” at 8 a.m.; and “Detective Conan Movie: The Fourteenth” at 9 a.m.
Another back-to-back educational episode of Alamat will be featured at 10 a.m. “Ang Unang Bahaghari” tells the story of love and lies, while “Alamat ng Bayabas” is about a greedy leader, and how fate dealt with him.
The religious program “Power To Unite” will air at 11:00 a.m. featuring host, Ms. Elvira Yap-Go and special guest Fr. Timothy Radcliffe OP as they discuss The Christian virtue of hope.
Recall Jesus’ seven last words via “Siete Palabras” which will air at 12nn and to be followed by “Francis: The Pope from the New World” at 3:00 p.m.
Come 4:00 p.m., tune in for a cluster of films that explore the meaning of love, life, and faith. “Sana Dati” which stars Lovi Poe, Paulo Avelino and Benjamin Alves will air at 4 p.m.; followed by CBN Asia’s “Tanikala: Buyonero” starring Kristoffer Martin at 5:30 p.m.; “The Ten Commandments” at 7 p.m.; and the independent film “Above The Clouds” featuring Ruru Madrid at 10:30 p.m.
GMA’s Black Saturday Lenten programming begins with a series of animated films “Doraemon Movie: Nobita and the Giants of the Green Planet” at 7 a.m.; “Pokemon Movie: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice” at 8 a.m.; and “Detective Conan Movie: The Wizard of the Century”at 9 a.m.
At 10 a.m., learn about Mother Nature via GMA News and Public Affairs’ Alamat special “Mariang Sinukuan” featuring the voice of Kylie Padilla, to be followed by the inspiring story of perseverance in “Mahiwagang Singsing” with the voices of Roi Vinzon, Jeric Gonzales, and Bea Binene.
Family favourite films will air beginning 11 a.m. with “Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2”, followed by “Fantastic Four” at 12nn; “Batman Begins”at 1:30 p.m.; and “Superman Returns” at 3:30 p.m.
