A 50-year-old Indian was found dead inside his rented house in Quezon City on Easter Sunday.
Reports reaching the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the victim as Nirlep Singh, married, of Bucharest St., Palmera Homes, Barangay Sta. Monica. Supt. Rodel Marcelo, QCPD-CIDU chief, said the body of the victim who was living alone was found at about 6:45 a.m. by Margie Goopio, his personal assistant.
Goopio told police that his employer failed to text him about his lending business, prompting her and husband, Ruben, together with another Indian, Jaswinber Singh, to see the victim in his house. Margie knocked on the victim’s door but Nirlep failed to answer. Ruben and Jaswinber climbed to the second floor and forcibly opened the window.
They went to the first floor and saw the victim lying on his right side inside his room. They immediately sought the assistance of barangay officials who called the police for investigation.
Police said the victim’s brother in law has signed a waiver rejecting an autopsy on the body as he believes that Nirlep died of natural causes. (Francis T. Wakefield)
