LAGUNA – He was first awestruck by the Filipino-made smart electronic toothbrush while traveling in Europe late last year.
A few months later, President Aquino fulfilled a promise to visit the local plant that manufactures the clever little tool, heaping praises on the Filipino workers for their ingenuity and skill.
Kaertech Electronics Philippines employs local workers that assembly the bluetooth-enabled Kolibree Connected Toothbrush, originally designed in France.
The sensor-packed gadget communicates with the smartphone to monitor dental hygiene. It also uses video games to motivate people, especially kids, on how to brush properly.
“Ever since I returned from that trip, I have been meaning to go to this facility to meet the talented individuals in your company; and I am glad that, today, my staff finally has found some time in my schedule for a visit,” the President said after touring the facility.
“I have always believed in the skill and ingenuity of the Filipino, and I am filled with optimism, seeing how companies like Kaertech Electronics seem to share this confidence in our people,” Aquino added.
Aquino recalled that he first encountered the high-tech toothbrush while visiting an innovation plant in France. He said he was “pleasantly surprised” that the modern toothbrush was manufactured in the country. At the time, he said he wanted to visit the Laguna plant as soon as he returned home from Europe.
The President, meantime, welcomed plans of Kaertech company to expand operations in the country, including setting up a new factory, and creating a development team in areas of electronic, mechanical, and software development.
“Today, I take the opportunity to tell you that you cannot go wrong with the Filipino people. They are hardworking, creative, and loyal, and, with the support of a government that is more equipped than ever to empower your industry, the foundations for continued success are firmly in place,” Aquino said.
